Admission is allowed up to 30 minutes before closing time

For security or public order reasons, or in particular circumstances such as ceremonies or events, opening hours may vary or some areas may be closed, at any time and without prior notice.

  • Baptistery Some areas may be closed due to restoration work on the matroneum.
  • Cathedral Opens for visits at 10:00 AM; hours may vary on Sundays and religious holidays.
  • Camposanto Admission is free on November 1st and 2nd, for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
  • Tower Early closure on June 16th. Extended opening until 10 PM from June 17th to August 31st.
  • Palazzo dell’Opera del Duomo There are currently no exhibitions scheduled.

USEFUL INFORMATION

For the Cathedral
Visiting the Cathedral is free with a ticket. If you purchase any ticket, you will receive a free, untimed ticket for the Cathedral visit. Free tickets for the Cathedral visit only are timed and limited, and are exclusively available at the on-site ticket offices.

The Cathedral is a place of worship and prayer. Visitors are asked to behave and dress appropriately, out of respect for the place and the people. Explanations for groups of 6 or more people can only be given using a radio guide system, respecting the silence required in the sacred place. During masses and religious ceremonies: visitors have access to a limited area, the use of cameras is not permitted, and guides and escorts cannot provide explanations.

For the Tower
Due to crowd control and the significant influx of visitors, availability is limited to time slots before 10:00 AM and after 7:00 PM.
For safety reasons, admission is not allowed for children under 8 years old (current year or to be completed in the current year). Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
An identity document may be requested to verify age. The chosen time is indicated on the ticket.
Being late will result in forfeiture of the visit and does not entitle you to a refund.
Handbags/bags/luggage must be left at the cloakroom and collected at the end of the visit.
The visit lasts approximately 30 minutes. The climb is on foot and there are 251 steps.
Staff will welcome visitors with a brief narration of the Tower’s history.
IMPORTANT: The visit is not recommended for people suffering from cardiovascular or motor disorders.
The floor is uneven and slippery.

Audio Guides
The sanitized device can be collected at the entrance of the Museo delle Sinopie, by leaving an identity document as a deposit for the audio guide (copies or student cards are not accepted). The service is available from 9 AM to 8 PM (with audio guide collection until 7 PM).
AudioTours available: Cathedral, Baptistery, Museo dell’Opera del Duomo.
Languages available (Italian, English, French, German, and Spanish)

Instructions for a Safe Visit
The Opera della Primaziale Pisana applies the measures adopted by the Italian authorities to ensure visitor safety.
Visitors are requested to comply with the government measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
It is forbidden to bring large bags and suitcases. Only small backpacks or bags will be allowed. The maximum permitted dimensions are: 20x30x38 cm.
For those visiting the Tower: Handbags/bags/luggage must be left at the cloakroom and collected at the end of the visit. At the entrance, visitors are subject to metal detector checks. The device does not affect the operation of pacemakers and defibrillators.
Dogs (of any size or in any mode of transport) are not permitted inside the monuments and museums of Piazza del Duomo, unless they are certified guide dogs assisting people with disabilities.
